Intro to the Siddur Prayerboook:

"Prayer as Poetry ~ Poetry as Prayer"

four weeks | $125 | Check Calendar for days and times

The siddur, or Hebrew prayerbook, is a rich resource of history, poetry, songs, wishes, hopes and worldviews of Jewish people. Our views of gratitude for life, our roles in changing the world in partnership with the One, and our wonder at the created universe are held within the pages of the siddur. In this 4-week course, we will review the structure of the siddur, and seek out prayers as poetry, and discover poets who express spiritual knowledge, identity, and wonder in their work, featuring Mary Oliver.

hebrew amulet

When one thinks of an amulet, one may envision an object or talisman. In Jewish tradition, an amulet is an artistic prayer document that protects a person from trouble, and welcomes healing and success. In this 2-week course, we will study Hebrew "names"/sh'mot, and phrases associated with these visual expressions of prayer.

Using watercolor, tin, clay, and calligraphy, you will create your own amulet or kameah, that expresses your special hopes and dreams.

You will create your own amulet using watercolor, tin, clay, wood - any type of media that best suits you.
